Healing Hands
The North Eastern Institute of Whole Health is offering a helping hand to servicemen and women returning from Iraq or
their spouses. NEIWH's School of Massage Therapy will offer a full-tuition scholarship for its state-licensed
Massage Therapy program which began in July 2005.*
Called Operation "Healing Hands," soldiers returning from Iraq,
their spouses, or the spouses of fallen soldiers will receive free tuition to the 13-month Massage Therapy Program.
Dr. Gabrielle Grigore, the Institute's director and president, and former neurosurgeon, said, "I grew up
in Romania; I know what freedom is all about. These kids in Iraq are fighting for freedom, and I wanted to give them
something when they came back."
She said she felt transitioning back to life here may be more difficult than it was
to make the commitment to go to Iraq in the first place. "In learning about Massage Therapy, you learn so much about yourself,"
Grigore said.
She said Massage Therapy is a fast-growing profession with many opportunities,
and starting salaries are about $60 per hour. "you can work at your own pace, whether that's on a cruise ship,
hospital, or your own practice," Grigore said.
